Comments: IT’S OUT! Been looking forward to this.
Downloading now, i’ll review it a bit later.
[EDIT 13/03/09 ] Happy listening! I’ve listened to
it (many times XP) I’m actually
listening to it now. I can say this album is
definately recommended. There’s a wide range of styles,
which is good. I’ll have a looong review starting with Sorry Sorry…
1. Sorry, Sorry: Great song, very upbeat and catchy.
I just can’t help but want to dance and sing along to
the chorus everytime. It was a good choice using
this song to make a comeback. Reminds me a lot of Gee.
SNSD is like the female vr of Super Junior in a way.
Actually if you watch the MV for this song, you’ll
see that there’s a dance move that is very similar
to a dance move in Gee.
2. Why I Like You: Another great song. Vocals are great,
and its upbeat tempo makes it addicting. Another song
that makes me want to sing along. I should look for the
lyrics for this song actually…
3. Let’s Not…: Compared to the other songs on this album,
I have to say this one was more forgettable. It’s a nice
ballad and all, but I prefer listening to ballads sung by
DBSK or groups that are known to sing ballads like Davichi,
V.O.S. etc. Sounds like a song that would be used in a drama haha!
4. Angela: When you first listen to it, it doesn’t sound like
anything particularly special. It’s a very pop-y and happy song.
But there’s just this part right before the chorus that I
looove. Whoever’s voice it is (i can’t tell the differnce
between who’s who at all) it sounds great.
I love the lines “you’re my angel, whisper softly”
and “i love you everyday”. The chorus is very Super Junior-like.
Overall decent, but I really just listen to this song for those
lines XD
5. RESET: Another dance-y song. It’s a rather slower tempo-ed song,
not so much dance as pop. Quite listenable. I like the chorus.
6. MONSTER: Similarly to RESET, dance-y song.
I like this song more than RESET.
I really actually like the way Suju sings in this song.
7. WHAT IF: Another ballad. Even more forgettable than Let’s Not.
I prefer listening to Let’s Not. But I do like the chorus.
8. Heartquake: I love this song. It’s great. I
really like Super Junior -KRY, vocals are great (DUH)
and it’s just a plus to have Yunho and Yoochun in this
song XD There’s actually swearing in the beginning when
talking really quietly and say ’sh*t’. Anyway, this is
just a really great song. Love it. I really like the
rap parts actually. (hmm wonder why? XP)
9. CLUB NO.1: Upbeat song, not bad at all. There’s a lot of use of synthesizer/equalizer for Lee Yeon Hee’s part.
But her voice actually adds a nice touch to the song.
The extra little melody is nice.
10. HAPPY TOGETHER: Happy song. Not hard to figure
out seeing the title haha! A mid-tempo song, but
I find it doesn’t really show off Suju’s vocals
that much. Chorus is nice but forgettable.
11. Dead at Heart: 3rd and last ballad of the album.
I like this ballad the most. It’s really nice. It
has a bit of a rnb beat, but the melody really
catches me the most. The quiet singing in the verses
really is beautiful, catches me completely.
12. SHINING STAR: Another very happy song. I prefer
this to HAPPY TOGETHER. Sort of forgettable.
“Shining star, like a little diamond. Makes me raugh…”
yes i wrote raugh because it sounds like it. It’s
supposed to be laugh if you didn’t know.
They have some kringlish there XD
OVERALL: A very good album. Every track is
listenable, though not all memorable.
Good comeback, and nice variance in styles.
From yesasia:
Super Junior seemed to be everywhere in 2008,
what with their activities in Korea, China, and Japan,
their concert tour, and their usual flurry of television
and radio appearances. But the boys have been apart
more often than not in the past year between commitments
to units Super Junior-M and Super Junior-H, plus acting
and hosting gigs. Leaving last year’s controversy behind,
Super Junior starts fresh in 2009 with their highly
anticipated third album!
Super Junior’s third album features 12 new
tracks, kicking off with the funky title song
Sorry, Sorry. For this catchy urban house dance number,
the group especially worked with renowned
choreographer Nick Bass, who has collaborated with Beyonce,
Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera.
Super Junior also worked with renowned
composers and songwriters like Kenzie, Yoo Young Jin,
Park Chang Hyun, Yoo Young Suk, as well as
Fly to the Sky’s Fany who co-wrote Let’s not….
Perhaps most exciting is the participation of
Dong Bang Shin Ki’s U-know Yun Ho and Micky Yoo Chun
who complement Kyu Hyun, Ryeo Wook and Ye Sung’s
perfect harmonization with their rapping in Heartquake.
Actress Lee Yeon Hee also makes a guest appearance
on CLUB No. 1. Presenting new images and more mature
music with every album, Super Junior tried out a
variety of different musical styles for their third album,
as evident in songs like Brit-pop number Angela,
dance track Why I like you, and the fusion pop number RESET.
